Remembering those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of the country, the welfare of society and the better future of the nation is not merely an act of recalling history; it is an opportunity to draw inspiration from their sacrifice. With this spirit of gratitude and patriotism, the NCC Department of Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya, Murgud, paid heartfelt homage to the martyrs of Murgud on the occasion of Hutatma Din.
The NCC Department regularly observes the birth and death anniversaries of great personalities and patriots to commemorate their contribution and sacrifice to the nation. As part of this initiative, NCC cadets cleaned the statues and memorials of martyrs and great personalities at various places in Murgud city. After cleaning the surroundings, the cadets offered garlands and paid respectful tribute to the martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, NCC Officer ANO Lt. Prof. V. A. Pradhan introduced the programme and explained its objectives. He said that the sacrifices of the martyrs should not remain confined to the pages of history. Their spirit of patriotism, social commitment and dedication to the nation should be nurtured in the minds of today’s youth. He emphasized that paying homage to the martyrs should also inspire everyone to carry forward their ideals and sense of social responsibility.
He further stated that such activities help NCC cadets develop patriotism, discipline, social responsibility, leadership qualities and a sense of duty towards the nation. Remembering the martyrs and understanding their contribution enables young students to connect with the history and heritage of their own society.
On the occasion, NCC cadets delivered speeches highlighting the lives, contributions and sacrifices of the martyrs. They expressed the feeling that the peaceful and independent life enjoyed today has been made possible because countless brave men and women of earlier generations dedicated their lives to the nation and society. The cadets appealed to everyone to remember the martyrs not merely on a particular day but to follow their ideals in everyday life.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. S. M. Hodage appreciated the NCC Department for undertaking such socially meaningful activities. He said, “Paying homage to martyrs does not merely mean placing a garland on a statue. True tribute lies in understanding their sacrifice and reflecting their ideals through our conduct.”
Giving a historical perspective, Dr. Hodage spoke about the martyrs of Murgud and their contribution to the welfare of society. He recalled how these patriots had sacrificed their lives for social causes and the larger interests of the people. He emphasized that preserving and passing on the history of such courageous personalities to the younger generation is a collective responsibility.
He further said that the soil of Murgud carries the inspiring legacy of people who dedicated their lives to social welfare and the nation. Such programmes organized by the NCC Department help connect the younger generation with history, patriotism and social responsibility. He congratulated the NCC Department for setting an example of social commitment through its activities and wished the department success in its future initiatives.
Making an emotional appeal, Dr. Hodage said that while remembering the martyrs, “we must keep the flame of their ideals alive in our hearts and dedicate ourselves to the welfare of society and the nation.”
NCC cadets worked with dedication to make the programme successful. Senior Cadet Abhishek Gayakwad proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of the NCC Department and expressed gratitude to the Principal, NCC Officer, cadets and all those who supported the initiative.
The programme concluded with a solemn tribute to the martyrs and a pledge to draw inspiration from their courage, sacrifice and commitment to society and the nation.
May the memories of our martyrs remain eternal, and may their sacrifice continue to kindle the spirit of patriotism and national service in the hearts of every young citizen.
With the objective of spreading the message of patriotism and encouraging citizens to display the National Flag at their homes, the NCC Department of Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya, Murgud, organized a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ Motorcycle Rally as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.
Before the rally, NCC Officer ANO Lt. Prof. V. A. Pradhan organized the NCC cadets who participated with their motorcycles. Addressing the cadets in the college premises, he explained the importance, purpose and spirit behind the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He emphasized the role of NCC cadets in promoting patriotism, national unity, discipline and social responsibility among the people.
The rally was flagged off by Principal Dr. S. M. Hodage by ceremonially waving the National Flag. The sight of NCC cadets in uniform riding motorcycles adorned with the Tricolour created an atmosphere of patriotism and enthusiasm. Slogans such as “Har Ghar Tiranga,” “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Vande Mataram” echoed along the route.
The rally proceeded through Beghar Vasahat, Suryavanshi Colony, Hutatma Tukaram Chowk, Murgud Bus Stand, Murgud Municipal Council, Main Bazaar Line, Murgud Naka and Madhavnagar, and finally reached Shindewadi, where the rally concluded. At various places along the route, citizens warmly welcomed the NCC cadets and appreciated their initiative. The sight of the Tricolour and the disciplined participation of the cadets generated a strong sense of national pride among the people.
At Shindewadi, some villagers addressed the gathering and appreciated the patriotic spirit displayed by the NCC cadets. They expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the NCC Department to create awareness about patriotism, national unity and civic responsibility among the youth and the community. Principal Dr. S. M. Hodage congratulated the NCC Department and the participating cadets for successfully organizing the rally. He appreciated the initiative and stated that such activities play an important role in developing patriotism, discipline, unity and a sense of responsibility among young students.
