



The Department of NCC of Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya, Murgud, organized a programme to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Swami Vivekanand and Rajmata Jijau with great respect and enthusiasm. The objective of the programme was to acquaint students with the inspirational lives, thoughts, and contributions of these great personalities and to inculcate values of patriotism, leadership, and moral strength among the youth.
The programme began with the offering of floral garlands to the portraits of Swami Vivekanand and Rajmata Jijau by the Honourable Principal Dr. Shivaji Hodage. This was followed by a welcome and introductory address by Associate NCC Officer Lt. V. A. Pradhan, who highlighted the importance of the day. He emphasized that Swami Vivekanand empowered the youth through his message of self-confidence and spiritual strength, while Rajmata Jijau laid the foundation of Swarajya by nurturing strong values and leadership in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Mr. Raykar from the Department of History delivered an informative speech in which he shared inspiring anecdotes from the lives of Swami Vivekanand and Rajmata Jijau. He stressed their lifelong commitment to nation-building and value-based education, quoting Swami Vivekanand’s call to the youth: “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached.”
In his address, Principal Dr. Shivaji Hodage focused on the positive changes these personalities brought in the lives of young people. He pointed out that Swami Vivekanand envisioned youth as the backbone of a strong nation, while Rajmata Jijau demonstrated how enlightened motherhood could shape history and instill ideals of courage, discipline, and service to the nation.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ashok Patil, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, faculty members, NCC cadets, and administrative staff for their presence and cooperation.
All NCC cadets actively participated in the programme. The event was also attended by Staff Secretary Prof. Sardesai, Dr. H. M. Sohani, Dr. Dipali Samant, Mr. Avadhut Patil, Mr. Daphale, Mr. R. A. Patil, Mr. Sarang, IQAC Coordinator Dr. Mrs. Patil, Dr. G. I. Samant, and members of the administrative staff. The programme successfully inspired students to follow the ideals of Swami Vivekanand and Rajmata Jijau in their personal and social lives.
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) Department of the college successfully organised an innovative and eco-friendly creative competition titled “Greeting Banao, Chha Jao” on January 3, 2026. The activity witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of various departments, who showcased their creativity, imagination, and artistic skills through unique handmade greeting cards.
The competition was initiated and organised by NCC Officer Lieutenant Vinodkumar Ashok Pradhan, with valuable assistance from Dr. Ashok Patil and Ms. Samruddhi More. The event was evaluated by a panel of judges comprising Dr. Dipali Samant, Mrs. Manisha Patil, and Mrs. Archana Kamble, who appreciated the innovative approach adopted by the students.
Based on the theme “Best out of Waste,” participants created New Year greeting cards using discarded and waste materials such as old sarees, broken household items, used cloth bags, old wedding cards, SIM cards, boxes, and other reusable items. The judges were highly impressed by the originality and creativity displayed in the entries. They interacted with the participants to understand their creative process, the time and effort invested, the minimal expenses involved, and the sources of inspiration behind their creations.
The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage students to reduce dependence on mobile phones by engaging in constructive and creative thinking. Judges Dr. Dipali Samant and Mrs. Manisha Patil praised the participants for their innovative efforts and motivated them to participate in greater numbers in such creative initiatives in the future.
The greeting cards prepared by the students were later displayed on the college notice board. The exhibition was inaugurated by Principal Dr. S. M. Hodage on January 5, 2026. Dr. Ashok Patil welcomed the gathering, while ANO Lt. Vinodkumar Ashok Pradhan explained the objectives and expected outcomes of the programme. In his address, the Principal commended the NCC Department for organising a meaningful, creative, and eco-friendly activity and encouraged students to actively participate in similar programmes in the coming years.
Sharing her experience, Ms. Vaishnavi Kumbhar, a student of B.Com. Part III, spoke about creating a greeting card using waste SIM cards. She expressed her gratitude to the organisers for providing a platform to showcase students’ creative talents and delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the NCC Department.
The results of the competition were announced as follows:

Third Prize: Anuradha Sadashiv Mohite (B.Com. III)
The winners will be felicitated with certificates and prizes during the Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony at the Annual Gathering. All participants will receive participation certificates from the NCC Department. The programme concluded successfully, leaving students inspired to think creatively while promoting environmental responsibility.
Veer Bal Diwas Celebrated with Patriotic Zeal at Sadashivrao Mandalik College
Sadashivrao Mandalik College solemnly celebrated Veer Bal Diwas with great enthusiasm and reverence, paying tribute to the supreme sacrifice of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs. Veer Bal Diwas, observed every year on December 26, commemorates the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh’s younger sons, who courageously refused to convert their faith and embraced martyrdom for the sake of religious freedom and moral values.
On this occasion, the college organized an inspiring program aimed at instilling the values of bravery, sacrifice, and devotion among students. A thought-provoking lecture was delivered by NCC student CQMS Pratiksha Rajendra Parit, who highlighted several historical incidents related to Veer Bal Diwas. Through effective narration and relevant examples, she explained the significance of courage, unwavering faith, and selfless sacrifice, leaving a deep impact on the audience.
The program was presided over by Principal Dr. Shivajirao Hodge, who, in his presidential address, elaborated on the social, cultural, and educational importance of Veer Bal Diwas. He emphasized the need for students to imbibe moral values in their daily lives and appealed to them to follow the path of truth, courage, and discipline inspired by such historic sacrifices.
Guidance for the program was provided by Lieutenant Vinod Kumar Pradhan, Head of the NCC Department, along with Prof. Dadasaheb Sardesai, NSS Project Officer Prof. Deepak Salunkhe, and Vice Principal Dr. Shivaji Powar, who motivated the students and appreciated the efforts taken to organize the event. Prof. Suhas Gorule efficiently moderated the program and ensured its smooth conduct.
The entire event was successfully planned and executed by the NCC cadets of the college. The celebration concluded with a renewed sense of patriotism and commitment among students to uphold the values of courage, sacrifice, and service to society inspired by the martyrdom of the Veer Bal.
Lecture on Water Harvesting Organized under Jal Jeevan Mission at Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya
Murgud:
As per the circular issued by Directorate General NCC (DGNCC) to celebrate Jalutsav: Jal Jeevan Mission from 22nd to 28th December 2025, the Department of NCC of Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya, Murgud organized a special lecture on “Water Harvesting: Challenges and Solutions.”
The lecture was delivered by Prof. Dadasaheb Sardesai, Head, Environment Resource Centre and Department of Geography, Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya. The program was organized with the objective of creating awareness about water conservation among students and society.
At the beginning of the program, NCC Officer Lt. Prof. Vinodkumar Pradhan welcomed all the dignitaries and participants. He explained the purpose of organizing this activity under the Jal Jeevan Mission and appealed to students to listen carefully and actively contribute towards saving water and spreading awareness in society.
Presiding over the function, Principal Dr. Shivaji Hodage emphasized that saving water has become a need of the time. He appreciated the NCC department for organizing such a socially relevant awareness activity. He also referred to various authors and books highlighting the importance of water and mentioned the work of different NGOs actively involved in water conservation.
In his keynote address, Chief Guest Prof. Dadasaheb Sardesai stated, “If we save water today, water will save us tomorrow.” He highlighted shocking facts such as nearly 900 litres of water required to manufacture one mobile phone and 3,000 to 10,000 litres of water needed to produce one jeans pant. He stressed that no living being can survive without water and urged students to adopt water-saving practices.
Prof. D. P. Salunkhe, NSS Program Officer and Head, Department of Psychology, spoke about the importance of water in human life. He warned that water scarcity could even lead to World War III in the future and appealed to stop water pollution, avoid wastage, and spread awareness regarding water conservation. He appreciated the NCC department and ANO for organizing the program.
Vice-Principal Prof. Dr. Shivaji Powar also highlighted the importance of water for all living beings and the responsibility of youth in conserving natural resources.
The program was efficiently anchored by CQMS Pratiksha Rajendra Parit. The vote of thanks was proposed by CPL Satyajit Bhandwale. The program concluded with all participants taking a solemn ‘Save Water’ oath.
The program successfully created awareness among students about the urgent need for water conservation under the Jal Jeevan Mission.
The Department of NCC of Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya, Murgud, under 5 Maharashtra Battalion NCC, Kolhapur, successfully celebrated Jal Utsav SSCD Activity under the Jal Jeevan Mission from 22 to 28 December 2025.
As part of this initiative, NCC cadets actively participated in the cleaning of Sir Piraji Lake, Murgud, with the aim of creating awareness about water conservation and environmental protection. The activity highlighted the importance of clean water resources for sustainable living. During the programme, all participants also took an oath on water harvesting, pledging to conserve water and spread awareness in society.
The programme was organized by Lt. Prof. Vinodkumar Pradhan, NCC Officer of the college, who guided and motivated the cadets throughout the activity. Principal Dr. Shivaji Hodage presided over the event and delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the vital role of youth in protecting natural resources and supporting national missions like Jal Jeevan Mission.
On this occasion, Prof. D. A. Sardesai, Head of the Environment Resource Centre and the Department of Geography, proposed the vote of thanks and appreciated the sincere efforts of NCC cadets and organizers for contributing to environmental sustainability.
The Jal Utsav activity not only helped in improving the cleanliness of Sir Piraji Lake but also instilled a strong sense of responsibility among students towards water conservation and environmental awareness.
