Keeping this in view the college has established Environment Resource Centre with the objectives mentioned above. Various major activities like Tree plantations, Awareness programmes, Rallies, Lectures and exhibitions are undertaken under purview of the Environment Resource Centre.
ERC invites students to be the member by displaying a notice to students in the month of July every year. The interested students are registered by filling Registration forms. A quarterly meeting of the members is arranged to discuss the planning and its implementation of the programmes and the action plan is prepared accordingly. Every activity of this centre is coordinated and implemented by the member students. For this purpose groups of the students are made and responsibilities like tree conservation, Plastic free campus and wild vegetable exhibition etc is allotted to these groups. The best group is rewarded with ‘Nisarg Mitra’ award. Being a members this centre for three years, a good amount of awareness about environment is developed and nurtured among him/her.
One of the major activities- Wild Vegetable Exhibition- was highly appreciated by the surrounding community. As a result, students have become aware of medicinal and hygienic use of wild vegetables in human life. Consequently, it developed interest among the students about wild vegetables in the era of fast food. It is a thing of pride that ERC is invited to undertake this activity at district level. Hence the college proposes to undertake this activity at district level. ERC with collaboration of Science department has implemented rain harvesting system for science laboratories. With the help of ERC, preservation of campus trees was possible in summer.
