Department of Commerce is established in Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya in 1990. As Murgud is located in hilly and rural area, at the time students in surround area were not much aware about  scope and career in commerce faculty.  The department were started on mere 35  students and now the total strength of students reaches over 450. Two full time and one temporary faculty is working in the department. The department has very good tradition of results. The department organises various curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities for quality education i.e. Unit tests, Guest lectures, Commerce week, Seminars, Workshops on career avenues like Tally, CA and CS, Wall papers, library visit, Industrial tours, exams like Commerce Talent Search Competition, Commerce Quiz etc. The college library has sufficient number of text and reference books  of commerce faculty. some of the alumni of the department are working in various sector e.g. Professors, Government servants, businessman etc.
