Principal’s Message

               ‘कुणी न राहो दुर्बल अज्ञ, याचसाठी हा शिक्षण यज्ञ’ That is ‘ This alter of education we perform, so as noboday will be helpless and ignorant. With this philanthropic vision, Jay shivrai Education society was established in 1960 by a great mass leader Late Hon. Sadashivrao Mandlik, has been ceaselessly imparting KG to PG education to the wards of peasants and farm workers in the area.

Sadashivrao Mandlik Mahavidyalaya, one of the youngest of 24 branches, was established in 1990 to fulfil the goal ‘कुणी न राहो दुर्बल अज्ञ, याचसाठी हा शिक्षण यज्ञ’. The college began with a meagre number of 120 students in BA and B.Com programmes on non-grant basis, facing serious problems of infrastructure and physical facilities till the first cycle of NAAC accreditation. Prof. Sanjay Mandlik, the Head, Department of Political Science and the then Executive President of Jay Shivrai Education Society took hard efforts to erect a commodious building with 27 rooms before the first cycle.

               The college made a dazzling progress after the first cycle with the support of sanstha and UGC funds. It’s during this time, A women’s hostel and separate library building were constructed. The number of students increased and  in true sense the college became a centre for higher education for over 50 neighbouring villages and hamlets. Through its innovative curricular, and extra-curricular activities, the college proved to be a centre for social reforms as envisaged in the vision.

               Now the college has got a land of 10.20 acres and spacious building containing computer lab, Science labs, administrative wings and commodious auditorium.  The large campus comprises of a commodious main building, a well-equipped women’s hostel, a separate library building having over 33000 books  31 magazines and journals,10 newspapers. The college ground and gymnasium has encouraged and facilitated a number of sports persons to bag a number prizes and medals from university to International level. The college is continuously leading in athletics and wrestling.

               The college has started BCA program in 2008. The unique innovative activities are a special strength of college. viz. Highly Ambitious Students Association (HASA), Environment Resource Centre (ERC), ZEP the news bulletin, adopted village, are a few to mention.

               As a result of the all-round developments of the college, in the second cycle of NAAC reaccreditation the college secured ‘B’ grade with 2.64 CGPA in 2012.

               In the post reaccreditation period the college introduced B.Sc programme in 2013 which has enhanced the number of students in the college to 1700. B.Sc programmes fulfilled need of a big number of students especially girls of the area.

               At present almost 50% girls are enrolled for four different programmes is a proud achievement of the college. Now there are 21 permanent and 24 temporary faculties,  out of them 12 Ph.D holders and 3 faculties are perusing their Ph.D. Some faculty members are working as Member of board of studies in respective subject under Shivaji University. Eight members have completed their minor research project funded by UGC.  All of them regularly present and publish their research papers in University, State, National and International level conferences, seminars and journals.

               Keeping the college initiative in various academic and social activities, the University has honoured the college by selecting the college as Lead college for two times.

               State elocution competition, exhibition of local wild vegetables, ‘Zero to Hero’, Hounour of the local entrepreneurs, Add on courses like Rural Journalism, Nursery and Gardening Skill, Pragmatic English are well run in the college. Vijaya magazine, continuous participation in Youth Festival, gathering, lectures of renowned persons, NSS, NCC , Principal’s Award, Gem of faculty award are the main attractions for the students for their all round development.

               Recently, the college has started Post Graduate distance education centre of Shivaji University, which is receiving a very good response of the students from different sectors.

               In future, the college plans to start PG programs, some more skill based add on courses as stated in NEP-2019 and devised by college teachers.

               I welcome all the youngsters desirous of seeking admission in our college and assure them of their all round development along with their academic progress.
